Report cards late?
![]() |
It looks like middle school report cards, which should be going home with students tomorrow, will be at least a day late — due to problems coordinating the new DOE ‘universal’ format with school data. According to one parent coordinator in Brooklyn, information entered by schools didn’t mesh with the new format — and school staff is spending extra hours writing report cards by hand, to go home on Friday, January 9th.
Let us know if your child’s report card is delayed, too; we’re hoping for comment soon from DOE.

Are Brooklyn middle schools on a different schedule than Queens. the second marking period at Queens Middle schools doesn’t even end until the end of January, with report cards scheduled for February. It doesn’t make sense that all middle schools are not on the same schedule.

My understanding was that the delay was citywide, but there wasn’t a lot of info forthcoming from DOE today — have asked again and will update tomorrow. But agree fully that similar schools should be on similar report-card schedules, and wonder why they’re not. Good question; I’ll ask about that, too.

Our D3 middle school is not on this schedule either - term ends at the end of January.

Middle School Report Cards in January? The 2nd marking period doesn’t end until January 30th. Report cards are distributed at Parent/Teacher Conferences in February. I’m a Parent Coordinator in Brooklyn and can not understand why another PC in Brooklyn is involved in this incorrect information. All NYC Public Middle Schools should be on the same schedule for distribution of report cards.

My son goes to MS 447 in District 15. I don’t know about other schools, but my experience is consistent with what you report: the first marking period ended at the end of December 2008; we were supposed to get the report cards today but we got an email saying we would get them tomorrow. The second marking period ends in March 2009. Clearly our marking periods are different from those of schools whose second period ends in January.
