Bronx: Understanding special ed workshop

The NYC Parent Academy is a collaborative citywide program between the NYC Department of Education and Long Island University that is dedicated to strengthening parent involvement and enhancing partnerships within school communities to support student achievement. Understanding Special Education and Supporting Your Child’s Ability to Learn Bronx Borough-Wide Event.This workshop focuses on the essential role that family plays on a child’s IEP Team, and strategies for following through with homework and other educational goals at home. A breakout session during this workshop familiarizes participants with useful strategies for active involvement in their child’s education. Participants are asked to envision what the future looks like for their child, and the path they should follow in order to make that future a reality.
