PE parent forum
NYC Strategic Alliance for Health (SAFC) is working on a campaign to reform physical education in NYC schools with an interest in lessening the impact of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The Physical Education in Public Schools Task Force, Women's City Club (WCC) and SAfH are collaborating to raise parents' awareness that NYC schools are not in compliance with
NYS Education Department Physical Education requirements. The campaign calls attention to the many benefits of school-based physical education, including the finding that PE leads to improved academic achievement, including standardized test scores. NYS mandates that schools provide at least two periods of PE a week for each child,
which would average about 90 minutes of PE a week. The organizations are hosting the 2nd parent educational forum to inform parents about the initiative.
The event will start on: 28/Feb 5:00 pm And will end on: 28/Feb 6:00 pm.
