SEPTEMBER 2011 UPDATE:    There are gifted and talented classes in kindergarten and in first and seoncd grades.

MAY 2009 REVIEW:  According to the Department of Education, East New York Elementary School of Excellence and the East New York Middle School of Excellence will open in September 2009 at PS 72. The two new schools will ultimately replace PS 72, which will begin to phase out in June 2009. East New York Elementary will open with grades PK-3, and grow to serve students through the 5th grade.

Admissions: East New York Elementary and East New York Middle School will take over the PS 72 school zone. Students currently enrolled in grades K-2 at PS 72 are guaranteed a seat at the new school. (PS 72 students in grades 3-4 will remain at the school as it phases out.)
