TOPIC: "C" school as G&T VS "A" school as normal?

"C" school as G&T VS "A" school as normal? 11 months, 4 weeks ago #9934

My daughter got into a "C" School G&T program, but our zoned school is "A" school (but doesn't have G&T program).
So we have 2 choices.
"C" school as G&T student VS "A" school as normal student? Which is better?

Those grades are really meaningless; that would be the last criteria I used when making this decision.

If you insist on taking the Progress Reports into consideration, read the entire report for the schools and educate yourself on how the scores are calculated first. Also remember that often G&T programs are inside struggling schools, so the performance of the children in the G&T classes may not be reflected in a school's overall performance on the statewide exams.

Well in this case it looks like the A school is a better choice. It is clearly in the same league as some of the best schools in the city. Unless there is something in the culture or the class size of the C school you prefer, I would go with the zoned school. (Keep in mind I have absolutely no firsthand knowledge of either of these schools).

Go with zoned. 196 is a very good school however very test focused.
