Your independent guide to NYC public schools

DD is scheduled to start K 9/08, she's zoned to PS 159 but there is an early ed school closer to my house (PS 130 Q) buty they will not let her in b/c they are dist 25 vs we're zoned for district 26. Like I said, PS 130 is actually closer to my house. PS 130 accepts appl from anyone living in dist 25, but will not make this exception. Is there anything I can do? Any help and info would be great. TIA

Hi - my DD went to 130 six years ago but only for Kindergarten- she got into the District Alpha Program after K so she left 130. But as far as I can remember, 130 was a lottery magnet school for D25 only. I guess you can try calling the District office to see if there is a waiver - It's a great school - Early Childhood Program (K-3 only) - the only drawback is that kids have to start over at a new school for 4th grade.
