Your independent guide to NYC public schools

Does anyone know if the pre-k admission letters are definitely going out this week? Will parents only be receiving letters if their children were given a spot, or will they be receiving letters either way? Thanks for the help!

I was wonder the same thing. Also are the registration dates citywide or done by individual schools?

I don't have an answer, but am glad that I'm not the only one wondering where my letter is! I suspect the DOE may behind schedule in sending out decisions, but it would be nice if they would update their site to let us parents know.

They must have been getting too many calls. It is actually now posted on their website that the letters are going out this week. I guess we should start seeing them come in by next week.

I called the school hoping that maybe they would have a list of children who were assigned to their school, but no luck. The school knew nothing about such a list. I would assume though that the school would at least have to get a list of some sort indicating who/how many they should be expecting for pre-registration. Please post if anyone receives their letter! Thanks.

Pre-Kindergarten Admissions 2008-2009

Pre-Kindergarten offer letters have been mailed. Families will begin receiving letters on Saturday, May 24. The letters include directions about how to pre-register at the assigned school. The pre-registration period is from June 2, 2008 through June 13, 2008. Families must call the assigned school ahead of time to schedule a time to visit for pre-registration. The child must be present at the time of pre-registration at the assigned school.

The following documents will be required for pre-registration:
- Pre-K offer letter
- Verifiable proof of home address
- Proof of child’s age (birth certificate or passport)
- Child’s immunization history
