TOPIC: Have anyone ever decline a GnT program?

Have anyone ever decline a GnT program? 3 years, 11 months ago #7878

Hi... my daughter received an offer to GnT program at PS 16 District 24 Queens.
I dont really know the school nor the area (Corona). Currently she is at PS 7 Louis Simeone Elmhurst (Kindergarten)...
Anybody know the quality of the GnT prog in PS 16? Has anybody ever decline an offer (because it's not your 1st choice)? If we decline this one can she be tested again next year? Any other option?

TIA

I am declining DD's offer b/c I did not get my first choice (due to many factors) so she'll be going to the zoned school.  You can request your child to be tested next year for 1st grade and see what happens.  I think as the grades advance, the harder it is to get a seat though (after 1st)

My daughter goes to PS87, and at least 6 kids in her kindergarten class tested into G&T and declined the programs they were offered. (This was a morning drop-off conversation that started one day.) As far as I know all of them are staying at 87 for 1st grade and not re-testing, although I do think that is an option.
