TOPIC: After CTT?

After CTT? 3 years ago #8405

CTT - Does anyone know if once a child is put in a CTT class in Grade 1 (needs a little extra support) the child is forced to stay in CTT classes in the older grades? Might be just a maturity issue and everyone is on the fence as to if the child needs an IEP or not. If he he outgrows the need for support is it possible to switch back to general ed after a year of CTT? Thanks

Hi Faith,
The CTT assignment can be changed, if the child's needs change. When my son was in CTT, I had an IEP review meeting with his teachers each spring and we discussed what he would need for the next year. After several years in CTT, my son is now in gen ed and doing well. So the short answer is yes, if there comes a time when the support is no longer needed, the class assignment can be changed.

Just want to add: I loved CTT and thought it was a great program.
