District 4

District 4's boundaries loosely comprise East Harlem. The district also includes Ward's Island and Randall's Island. It ranges from as far south as East 96th Street and 2nd Avenue and north to East 125th Street and the Harlem River. The district is among those improving its housing and welcoming middle class newcomers. A pioneer in innovation and school choice, the district encouraged the development of schools such as the progressive Central Park East and several other unzoned schools. It is also home to many bilingual programs, including PS 182, the Bilingual Bicultural Mini School. District 4 is home to TAG, one of the three citywide gifted and talented schools.
