District 8

District 8 is a racially mixed district in the southeast corner of the Bronx. The western edge of the district includes some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city, such as Hunts Point, while the eastern and northern edge includes more suburban settings, such as Throgs Neck and Soundview which has a mix of modest single-family homes, low-income housing projects and expensive condominiums. The district is home to one of the borough's most popular neighborhood high schools, Lehman High School, and one of the most acclaimed schools in the city, PS 69. Mudbone, an art company in Hunts Point works with students to create play, dances, and documentaries.
