One of three small specialized high schools to open on college campuses in 2002, Queens High School for the Sciences at York College offers a refuge from the jam-packed classrooms and impersonal environment at most of the borough's over-burdened schools. Entrance to the school is based on the same exam as that used for Stuyvesant and Bronx Science, and all the kids are high-achievers. There is an unusually warm rapport between students and teachers. Grown-ups and kids seem to have fun together. For example, teachers and students. . .
