Richard Rodgers School of Arts and Technology is a venerable Upper West Side neighborhood institution, named for the famous composer of the duo "Rodgers and Hammerstein," who attended the school as a child. Rodgers is not the school's only distinguished graduate; others include the scientist Jonas Salk and the author J.D. Salinger.  The school benefits from community partnerships and parent fundraising  that provide extras such as arts and after school programs.  The school's gifted and talented classes have long been sought-after by neighborhood parents.  The school's Parent Association  is working to lure back local kids to its general education program and to lessen the divide between it and the popular G&T program.
