According to the Department of Education, East New York Elementary School of Excellence and the East New York Middle School of Excellence will open in September 2009 at PS 72. The two new schools will ultimately replace PS 72, which will begin to phase out in June 2009. East New York Middle School will open with a 6th grade and grow to serve students through the 8th grade.
