PS 48 occupies a 1990s era building that looks almost new. It is well kept, spacious and shares quarters with the Region 10 office and two special education programs. A 5th grade was added in September, 2003, ending the problem of kids having to find a school in which to "park" for a year before entering middle school in 6th grade. The downside was that portable classrooms had to be set up in the yard to accommodate the new classes.
