The PS 133 community manages to make the dreary interior of a century-old building feel cozy and vibrant. The small school is led by a very ambitious and widely respected leader, who has encouraged the staff to apply for grants, volunteers, and programs to supplement the faculty’s efforts and the Department of Education budget.

"Our gym teacher teaches us how to keep our body healthy, like what to eat, no smoking," a second grader said.

"I like doing homework and I like gym and music. I like playing the piano," a first grade student told us. His friend gently corrected him about the piano, "It is called a keyboard."

"It is exciting here. Everyday you don’t know what is going to happen," said one first grade students.
