Bedford Academy High School, a new small school opened in 2003, graduated nearly all of the students in its first class on time in 2007 and is sending them on to colleges including Long Island University, Temple University, Stony Brook, Morehouse, and the New Jersey Institute of Technlogy, Principal George Leonard said in a 2007 telephone interview. (The official graduation rate for this school will be posted when the Department of Education releases 2007 data, sometime in 2008). Word of mouth of the school's success has spread, and thousands of students applied in 2006 for 80 seats in the freshman class, he said. Bedford Academy High School offers an academic program that includes pre-med, pre-law and pre-engineering courses.
