Beach Channel High School is a place that reminds city residents used to skyscrapers and urban pavements that one of New York's borders is the Atlantic Ocean. The school is situated on a barrier beach overlooking the wildlife haven of Jamaica Bay, a noted bird sanctuary and one of the components of the National Park Service's Gateway National Recreation Area.
