The Academy for Environmental Science (AES), located in one of the first buildings in the city to be divided into mini-schools, is working to recover from problems with the school's problematic social history and low academic standing. Basics like security and the maintenance of the physical plant have been the focus of improvement. AES occupies floors one through four of the building. The floors have recently had a facelift - hallways have been repainted and bulletin boards mounted.
