International High School occupies its own quiet corner of Prospect Heights High School, with a grand vista overlooking the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Brooklyn Museum just across the road. Practically the only noise is the sound of students clanging shut dysfunctional lockers or chattering away in their native tongues.

The school is a spin-off of the city's other international schools, which share the mission of teaching newcomers to the United States in small settings that administrators believe are more successful than large. . .
