Patterned on the successful International High School at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City and a half-dozen other city schools, Flushing International High School prepares new immigrants for graduation, college, and work. Founding Principal Joseph Luft has the right background for the job: he spent nearly a decade as a teacher and technology coordinator at Brooklyn International and a year as a principal-trainee at the LaGuardia school. His fluency in Spanish is another plus; the population of his school is nearly 60. . .
