It's not unusual for students to drop to the floor and perform a dozen push-ups at the Validus Preparatory Academy, which opened in fall 2005 with a 9th grade. In fact, daily physical exercise is mandated at this school, which is associated with Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound, a school-improvement offshoot of the not-for-profit outdoor adventure group. Located during the 2005-06 school year in a former elementary school now called the Morrisania High School Complex, the school was preparing to move in 2006 to a brand new building. . .
