PS 25 was the first New York City public school designated as a bilingual school after a 1974 consent decree approved by a U.S. District Court judge gave Spanish-speaking children the right to instruction in their own language. After years in which students' English language skills lagged far behind their Spanish, a new administration at PS 25 is working hard to improve English instruction along with scores on state reading exams.
