A large neighborhood middle school located in Bensonhurst, IS 96, the Seth Low School, tries to keep up with the shifting needs and interests of its students. Formerly ethnically homogeneous, first as a Jewish and then an Italian community, Bensonhurst has become more diverse in recent years, with a number of immigrant families from Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
