Tucked away in a small peninsula between Marine Park's salt marshes and Shell Bank Creek, PS 277 offers a unique marine biology program that makes the most of its location. The school also benefits from being a community where everybody knows everybody else.

The marine biology program was started in the early 1990s by then science teacher Jeanne Fish, now the school's principal, and it remains her biggest pride. It features a large room with big fresh- and saltwater tanks filled with locally caught wildlife, including. . .
