PS 193 long has had a reputation for being a pleasant, well-run neighborhood school, and it also posts remarkable academic results; for the 2004-05 school year, it was recognized by the New York State Education Department for being a "high performing/gap-closing school." Its success stems in part from impressive stability in leadership over the years, according to Principal Joyce Bush.
