PS 193 long has had a reputation for being a pleasant, well-run neighborhood school, and it also posts remarkable academic results; for the 2004-05 school year, it was recognized by the New York State Education Department for being a "high performing/gap-closing school."  Its success stems in part from impressive stability in leadership over the years, according to Principal Joyce Bush. Indeed, Bush, who took the helm in 2000 after serving for three years as assistant principal, is only the fifth principal the school. . .
