PS/IS 178, which serves students in pre-K through 8th grade, has strong arts and technology programs. This well-regarded and high performing neighborhood school expanded through the middle grades in September 2007 to offer families an alternative to their overcrowded local middle school. The school strives to give students who remain at PS/IS 178 their own identity within the building, where they continue to be encouraged by soft-spoken administrators and a supportive parent base.
