Like many Victorian homes in the surrounding neighborhood, PS 90 was built about a century ago and is showing wear and tear. But despite its deteriorating physical plant and an overcrowding problem, it manages to provide students with a welcoming and stable learning environment. Built in 1907, the school was intended to house about 700 kids, according to Adrienne Ubertini, principal. At the time of our tour, however, the student population was 980 and rising, as new children continued to enroll. Ubertini predicted that numbers. . . |
