SEPTEMBER 2009 UPDATE:   Scott Feltzin retired as principal at the end of June, 2009. Eric Strauss, formerly A.P. at Brooklyn Tech became principal in September, '09

The High School of Art and Design is a venerable school that opened in 1936 as the School of Industrial Art. In 1960 it moved into its current location in the center of the city's design district, but into a building that the principal describes as a case study in how not to design an art school.
