Integrated service centers
|
Under the DOE's new organization, each borough has an Integrated Service Center (ISC). These centers are similar to the former ROCs (Regional Operation Centers) but now provide additional mandated and operational services to all schools in the borough. Services include those related to human resources, payroll, budget and procurement, transportation, food services, facilities and extended use, grant management, technology, health and safety, student suspensions, youth development, and some elements of special education. ISCs are envisioned primarily as a "one-stop-shop" for principals who are looking for assistance and support in these areas. However, parents may find the ISC in their borough helpful in certain cases. For example, if a school has not provided the necessary support for a child who is chronically late or absent, you might consider calling the "attendance content expert" in your ISC to ask for additional support.
