I tried to write a longer comment with lots of exciting evidence, but alas, my wireless router chose the right time to fritz.

So I'll just point out that one of the photos seemed quite purposeful in proving the point that the families aren't escaping but embracing American values, while trying to preserve their own: two girls hiking an American football, wearing hijabs.  

I would defy anyone to say that the values those parents actually claimed to be escaping, the dominant youth culture in the district schools, represent an "American culture" that would raise our sights and make educators proud.</description>
