I only wish I'd been able to find the support groups you've found. I've searched desperately. I finally did find something on Facebook, believe it or not, on something called Circle of Moms. You can look under Special Needs and then search under incredibly specific areas. It's been especially interesting in that many of the moms are from overseas and bring differing perspectives in terms of their countries' treatments and, in some cases, even nuances in diagnoses. As for Nest having a support group, another reason to feel envious and sad my son was not accepted. He's in a nonpublic but no such support group exists. Anyone who has such a school-based group is incredibly lucky.

Such a great post. I actually wish I was in MORE support groups, at least from time to time. But given our picky-eater battles, I could use one for my cooking, too.

Wow, having just attended a PS 32 parent meeting, I feel like my life in support groups has just begun as yours is ending. I am craving some perspective, and some simpatico. I recognize myself so much in your article. Congratulations on graduating from the "safety net."

Marni, as always, funny, enlightening and honest. I always enjoy reading your blog and am envious of your dedication to Brooke's situation. I sometimes wish I were more diligent in searching for the services that are needed to help my son improve more rapidly.

Just a note to let you know, in case you forgot, that you have a very close relative that has access to all kinds of cookbooks, and I'm happy to share. Glad that you feel grounded enough to move in a new direction (keeping the door open to a "check up" is always a good idea 'just in case').
