My son just finished up his first year at CPE1. I have to give the school an absolute A. My son, who would often dread going to his previous school, loved going to school every day. The teachers are so, so smart, thoughtful, engaged and thoroughly attuned to their students. They have a level of understanding of their students' needs that one is hard pressed to find in public schools these days. The dedication of all of the staff (Principal, parent coordinator, aides) and the PA is unbelievable! Communication is excellent and the kids are really invested in their learning. Phenomenal school!

I currently go to the highschool for Enterprise, Business, and Technology (EBT) at grand street campus. EBT is an average school pulling its grades up. The school is pretty good. But my main problem about the school is that there are two other schools in the building and it gets really hectic and sometimes choas happens. I feel like EBT teachers needs to get closer with their students and build a teacher to student relationship. The academic level needs to go up too.

MY CHILDS SCHOOL IS AWESOME (PS.375) AND AS MUCH AS HE LEARNED AND WE LOVED THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TOOK IT FROM US AND GAVE IT TO EVA MOSKOWITZ (HARLEM SUCCESS ACADEMY)WITHOUT CONSIDERING OUR GREAT TEST SCORES, PARENT INVOLVEMENT,EXCELLENT FEDERAL REVIEW OR EVEN CARE HOW THE CHILDREN FELT. WE WERE NOT GIVEN THE CHANCE TO GO BACK INTO OUR COMMUNITY AND BRAG ABOUT HOW GREAT OUR KIDS DID AND THAT THEY SHOULD BRING THEIR CHILDREN TO MOSAIC.
NOW THE DOE REFUSES TO MEET WITH US THE PARENTS WHO ARE PUTTING UP A FIGHT FOR OUR SCHOOL AND WE ARE GOING TO WIN.

I was very saddened to find my childs grades slipped this year. My child usually doesn't need much motivation when it comes to his education. He is curious by nature, which usually keeps him at the top of his class. This year he scored high 3's on both math and reading exams (missed 4's by 8, 2 pts respectively). His last year exam grades were high 4's on both. Just test right some people say. However, his final grades on his report showed a decline from the 1st marking period to the last with him ending with 3, 3+, and a few 4's. I believe it was due to too much "parent invovlement". My child teacher was in constant battle with busy body parents that made every little think a huge deal. It was a lot of he said she said with threats and follow throughs on contacting the district office. By the end of the year my child's teacher was on an extreme defensive. If she said hello to someone she would explain what she meant by it.
I watched this from the side lines all year, what if anything I can do to keep this from affecting my child, and possibly defuse the situation.

Regarding grades for the last marking period, unfortunately our school plays that game with the grades that I know some other schools do as well: regardless of how well your child is doing, they can't get more than a 2 for the first marking period, can't get more than a 3 for the second marking period, and can only "achieve" a 4 on the final marking period. That being the school policy, a parent can't really tell if the teacher is unfair or not until that final report card is received, at which point nothing can be done.

For parents who are not satisfy with their kids grades, fr the last marking period. After spending a year with a teacher you should know your teacher. If you think that teacher is not a fair teacher you should request your child's report card with your principal or assistant principal some days in advance before your last day of school. With that you will have a chance to discuss your child progress.
