I am reading some of these comments and I cant believe them. It is so important for parents to be proactive in their childrens education and not reactive. If you wait for the last minute to enroll or register your children these are some of the unfortunate circumstances you will have to endure ( which were mentioned in preveious comments). Stop trying to blame everyone else for your lack of responsibilty in making sure your children were already placed in a school before the summer break. Yes, well all have to work and sometimes it may require us to take time off so we can tend to our children and their educatioal needs.

If the child is registered on September 9, will he be able to attend classes on September 9? Or it will be another lost day? I all teachers are back on August 31, how come that the child cannot register until September 9?

Heaven forbid an office would be open earlier than 8 am and later than 3 pm to accommodate parents and caregivers who actually still have jobs and are working...
Once again, the NYC DOE really is out of touch with the very parents they claim they want to engage and involve.
