What’s Special

Continuity from grades 6 to 12

The Downside

Poor attendance

The West Bronx Academy for the Future, one of six small schools housed in the Theodore Roosevelt Educational Complex, offers a traditional Regents-prep curriculum to children in grades 6-12. Principal Wilper Morales is well-regarded by the staff, according to school surveys.

Most students enter 6th grade reading below grade level and attendance is poor. Nonetheless, most students graduate from high school on time.

The Theodore Roosevelt High school complex, built in the 1920s, has a swimming pool, several gyms, weight rooms, and a nice library. Students must pass through metal detectors.  (Clara Hemphill, web reports, November 2018)
