District 25
District 25 includes the neighborhoods of Flushing, Whitestone, and College Point, a diverse swath of Queens that is home to many immigrant families. The district has many well-regarded, neighborhood schools, and most students attend their zoned elementary school.
There are several gifted and talented programs and two early childhood schools that serve students in grades k to 3 from across the district: P.S. 242 and the Active Learning Elementary School.
The Queens College School for Math, Science & Technology (PreK–8) draws citywide applicants through a lottery for its accelerated STEM curriculum.
Most families also attend their zoned middle schools, but districtwide options like Bell Academy (6–8) and East–West School of International Studies (6–12) offer global studies and small-school environments.
Charter school presence is modest yet growing; Elm Community Charter School (K–5) offers structured academics and serves a diverse student population.
