Check your mail box or computer. Pre-K placement letters were sent out on Friday, May 28, according the Department of Education's Office of Student Enrollment. If you applied duringRound 1 of pre-K admissions, and haven't received your letter already, it should arrive in the mail very soon.  Those who applied on-line will get an email with instructions on how to log-on to the system to access their placement letter.

Pre-registration begins June 7

If you were offered a slot in a pre-K program, you will need to pre-register your child at the school.  As soon as you get the letter (or read it on-line), call the school to set up an appointment for pre-registration. You don't have much time.  Pre-registration runs from Monday, June 7 through Friday, June 18.   Anyone who doesn't pre-register their child by June 18 will forfeit their pre-K seat.

You must bring your child to the school in order to complete pre-registration. You'll also need to present certain documents including your pre-K admission letter, proof of residence, your child's birth certificate (or passport) and immunization records. If your child has an Individual Education Program (IEP), 504 Accommodation Plan or both, you'll need to present those documents as well.

For a complete list of required documentation check out the DOE's website here.

Information about Round 2 of pre-K admissions, which is open to anyone who didn't get an offer in Round 1, will be available on the DOE's website in early July.

The appeals form will be available on the DOE's website later this week.
