Some 2000 students and their parents attended last Thursday's supplementary round high school fair, according to aNY1 weekend report that featured an interview with Insideschools' director Pamela Wheaton. More than 6600 8th graders did not receive a match in the main round of high school admissions and now must reapply for a high school spot. They can list up to 12 choices on a new application which is due on April 29 . On May 26 they find out where they have been matched.

Despite a list of more than 300 schools in the supplementary round, some parents and students who spoke to NY1 at the fair expressed dismay at the lack of "great choices." Summing up the frustration felt by many, one parent lamented, "there are so many great students and there's not a lot of great schools."

Some schools listed as having openings were not in attendance. Others, such as the new schools in the Brandeis building on the Upper West Side, are hostingopen houses this week.
