Dear readers:

We’re looking for a new director of education policy and InsideSchools to help our staff carry on the research and writing that have made our website and policy reports indispensable for 1.5 million readers a year.

We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of the issues facing New York City public schools; a passion for the promise of public education; and an abiding belief that engaged, informed parents can help improve education for all children.

The ideal candidate will have a background in policy research; extensive fund-raising experience; strong skills in writing, editing and public speaking; and knowledge of web design.

Most of all, we’re looking for someone with a vision of how to ensure that InsideSchools and the policy work of The New School’s Center for New York City Affairs can flourish and grow in the years ahead.

After more than 20 years helping New York City parents find the best schools for their children I’m leaving InsideSchools and the Center for New York City Affairs this summer to devote more time to writing about school integration. If you’d like to apply for my position, see the posting on The New School’s jobs board.
