Our Insights
Children's Aid Society Frederick Douglass Early Childhood Program is an early education center that provides preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. The center is in its own building, on the Upper West Side.
Teachers ask children questions, invite back-and-forth conversation to develop language skills, mutual respect and promote positive social interactions. Children are encouraged to communicate and learn language skills through books, puppets or blocks. They have lots of time to talk and ask questions.
There is outdoor space for children to play and get fresh air, as well as dedicated indoor play space apart from the classroom. Both early drop-off and late pick-up are available at this program.
This school prioritizes children who live in District 3 but anyone is welcome to apply. To see if your address is in the district for this program please use our school search. For more information about 3-K and Pre-K enrollment and advice on how to find a program, please visit our Pre-K page.
