School for Community Research and Learning

Founded in 2003 on the Adlai Stevenson Campus, the School for Community Research and Learning never really got off the ground. Attendance was consistently very poor and most kids left without graduating. On our visits in 2004 and again in 2012, students seemed disengaged, with lots of heads on desks and aimless chatting. Teachers said discipline was poor and the suspension rate was very high.
The Department of Education decided to close the school, and no new 9th graders were accepted after 2011; the last class graduated in 2014.For your transcript or proof of graduation, call Pablo Neruda Academy at 718-824-1682 x14974(Clara Hemphlll, January 2012; updated June 2014)Read more
