Pacific High School, an alternative school designed to help older students who had done poorly elsewhere, was closed in 2012. It is being replaced by a new transfer school, Frontiers High School.
Insideschools reviewers in 2002 described it as friendly school with small classes and individual attention. Teachers, who were addressed by their first names, seemed happy to be there. But, like a lot of transfer schools, attendance and graduation rates were poor.
The building, wedged into downtown Brooklyn, had a metal detector and bag scanner as well as narrow hallways and stairwells at the time of our visit. (Clara Hemphill, August 2012)Read more
