The Downside

Little information available

PS K753 is a school where parents agree that engaging courses and activities are available, surveys report.

The school, which serves over 200 high schoolers, is located in different sites throughout Brooklyn. The overwhelming majority of the students are classified as emotionally challenged. The attendance rate for the 2015-2016 school year was 62.3 percent, according to the Comprehensive Education Plan. However, the quality of teaching is good according to the 2015 Quality Review.

Some students are on track to earn a local diploma or Regents diploma path while others will receive the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) credential, according to the Quality Review. Those on the CDOS path take regular courses in addition to Barbering, Cosmetology, and Architectural Drafting and Blueprinting.

ADMISSIONS: Citywide. PS K753 is part of District 75, a network of 69 schools dedicated to New York Citys students with disabilities who require increased attention. District 75 provides educational, vocational, and behavioral support programs for students who are on the autism spectrum, have significant cognitive delays, are significantly emotionally challenged, have a sensory impairment or have multiple disabilities.
