Our Insights

What’s Special

Effective principal; supportive school for special needs children

The Downside

Little information available

PS Q004 is a safe and orderly school where teachers trust the principal and think she is an effective manager, surveys report.

The school, which serves over 400 students Pre-K through 12th grade, is located in six sites across Queens. The student body mainly consists of learners with autism, emotional handicaps, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities and pervasive developmental disabilities. According to the Comprehensive Education Plan, the attendance rate for the 2015-2016 school year was 91.4 percent. Additionally, the 2015 Quality Review notes that the quality of the teaching is good.

Based on the Quality Review, it is evident that the school has a strong relationship with families and the community. Parents have generally defined the school as all-around supportive and attentive to my childs needs. In fact, one parent said, They dont only nurture our children, they nurture us as parents.
