The Downside

Little information available

PS Q233 is a safe and orderly school where the leadership is liked, surveys report.

The school, which serves over 400 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, is located in seven sites throughout Queens. The student body is comprised mainly of learners with autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, social emotional disabilities, speech and language impairments, and sensory impairments. The attendance rate for the 2015-2016 school year was 86.6 percent, according to the Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP). Also key to note is that the quality of teaching at the school is good, based on the 2015 Quality Review.

In order to enhance student experience, the school participates in a variety of programs. According to the CEP, three of the seven sites have inclusion programs. Additionally, as detailed in the Quality Review, the school collaborates with Get Ready to Learn, a yoga movement program and The Power of Choice, a program that helps students develop self-control.
