Vocational classes for students with multiple handicaps
The Downside
Little information available
PS Q993 is a safe and orderly school where the leadership is liked, surveys report.
The school, which serves over 500 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, is located in nine sites throughout Queens. The student body is comprised mainly of learners with multiple handicaps, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, and autism. The attendance rate for the 2015-2016 school year was 87.8 percent, according to the Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP). Also key to note is that the quality of teaching at the school is good, based on the 2015 Quality Review.
According to the CEP, the school offers pre-vocational and vocational classes. In fact, the school recently increased the number pre-vocational classes to provide more students with experiences to help them build skills to increase college/career readiness.
