The Carroll Gardens Community School

The Carroll Gardens Community School closed in June 2005. The school failed to raise the academic achievements of its students. In 2002, eight percent of its students passed the city and state English language arts exam, and in 2004 that number did not change. And, 24 percent of students passed the city and state math exam in 2004. Brooklyn New School and the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies reside in the building. (Vanessa Witenko, August 2007)
