What’s Special

Health Certifications

The Downside

Safety Concerns

At Bronx Academy of Health Careers, housed in the Evander Childs Campus, students may take part in special health related certifications like CPR/First Aid and medical billing and coding. All students take four years of math and science.

Students may take college courses beginning in the 10th grade through the CUNY College Now program, as well as Advanced Placement courses. Students may also participate in credit recovery and tutoring programs after school.

Graduation rates have been on the rise in recent years, and a majority of students are college ready. However, many teachers do not feel that order is maintained in the school and students report feeling unsafe, according to NYC School Survey results.

Students may take part in the many sports teams on the Evander Childs campus, and share facilities like the library, gym and cafeteria with other schools in the building. (Melanie Quiroz, web reports and DOE data, November 2018)
