Overcrowded lunchroom.

IS 232 closed in June 2009. Two middle schools, East Flatbush Community Research School and the Middle School for Marketing and Legal Studies, and a high school, Arts and Media Preparatory Academy, opened in the building in September 2007.

Before closing, IS 232 was a large, low-performing school where teachers and administrators had to expend much energy in keeping classrooms and hallways clean and orderly, and academics sometimes took a backseat. (Sepember 2012)
