P.S. 209 Margaret Mead

P.S. 209 Margaret Mead in Sheepshead Bay is a neighborhood school serving grades Pre-K through 8. The school is in its own building.

This school prepares students well to progress to the next grade and helps them improve their test scores, as compared to other schools with similar students. In the Pre-K classes, teachers ask children questions, invite back-and-forth conversation to develop language skills, mutual respect and promote positive social interactions. Children are encouraged to communicate and learn language skills through books, puppets or blocks. They have lots of time to talk and ask questions. The principal has been leading this school since 2001.
